SARAH WALDER MUSIC PROJECT
The Sarah Walder Music Project has three elements: performances, lessons and workshops, and the establishment of a viola da gamba community in northern Arizona.
Viola da Gamba Support
I also received a donation of one treble gamba made by Jeff Robinson, a professional luthier with 40 years of experience. It is an instrument of exceptional quality. In 2019, Jeff will also donate a tenor and a bass gamba, which will complete my first family of professional quality viols. These three instruments will put me well on my way to the eight instruments I hope to have by September 2020.
Lessons and Workshops
I now have my first local, beginning gamba students as well as two professional musicians who I am coaching on gamba and historical performance practice. I anticipate performing a concert with the latter musicians in Spring 2020. I was invited to teach at the Viola da Gamba Society of America advanced workshop in Tucson in October 2018, together with four renowned gambists. In February 2019, I coached the string musicians of Orchestra Northern Arizona, Flagstaff’s community orchestra, for the second consecutive year.
Look for me on the street in the next few months as my street project is currently underway for Summer 2019, along with my expanded solo performance schedule for Cello Trip IV. This year I will be in Prescott, Flagstaff, El Morro NM, and Albuquerque NM, where I will also teach a workshop for underprivileged kids.
If you would like to help me develop my projects, please consider making a one-time or recurring donation. The Sarah Walder Music Project is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization with a fiscal sponsorship program, which helps artists and arts organizations raise money from donors and other charitable sources.. Contributions for the charitable purposes of the Sarah Walder Music Project must be made payable to “Fractured Atlas” only and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
HOW YOUR SUPPORT WILL HELP
Your contribution will help cover the costs of the Sarah Walder Music Project, which include: venue fees, artist fees, and program printing; acquiring instruments and sheet music for the Viol Project; instrument maintenance; site maintenance and fees; and professional fees associated with the development phase of my projects, including publicity and grant writing.
I hope to raise at least $8000 to cover my project expenses for 2019, as well as help acquire five more gambas and eight bows.
